Welcome to Big Shoe Ranch
A little history of Big Shoe Ranch: The owners Mike and Julie have had horses most of their lives. Julie started her adventure with horses when her father bought her an untrained gentle and people friendly welch pony and handed her a bridle. That amazing pony taught Julie how to be a partner and the pony allowed her to ride him everywhere. Klondike a Shire gelding was Mike's first horse. He wanted his horse to enjoy the ride as much as he did and that required a horse that could carry our entire family of four. We were introduced to Gypsies at the Minnesota Expo back in 1997 and feel in love with them. When we were looking for new riding horses we thought we had an original idea of crossing a Shire with a Gypsy (What an awesome combination). This cross would solve needing a tail gate to get on your horse and it would be bigger than the average Gypsy e.g. a shorter Shire or a taller Gypsy. Will it turns out it was not such an original idea but we sure love or Shire / Gypsy crosses aka a Drum horse. Our goal is to provide a stocky, gentle horse with excellent confirmation and disposition. Their color combinations are a bonus.
